Located in Echo Park along the notorious Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles is cool new hotspot Button Mash. Button Mash was born out of its owner’s vision of a place where people could go for good food and play their favorite old school video games.
Prior to Button Mash, the space was a large chain shoe store and had been gutted, lacking even the basics such as plumbing. This made a project a little daunting for the first time restaurant owners.
Southern California Restaurant Design Group (SCRDG) was hired and tasked with creating the 800 sq ft kitchen. As the project moved along, having SCRDG on board was invaluable. In addition to creating the kitchen, SCRDG effortlessly guided the owners through the maze of building a restaurant with help on GC’s, approvals, and help with a constant stream of questions that can drive even a seasoned restaurant owner crazy. We were instrumental in helping lead the owners through the area of new verses used equipment – what is a good buy in used and what to stay away from, and how to save money with only purchasing the needed design items to open, the rest could be added later after they were making money.
Button Mash opened in August 2015 to rave reviews and has been very busy with satisfied customers.
