In 1975, the Alfano family converted a one car garage into the first Maria’s Italian Kitchen and was a huge success. Ten years later Madelyn Alfano followed in her mother Maria’s footsteps and opened the first table-service Maria’s Italian Kitchen in Sherman Oaks, CA. Now with ten restaurants, Maria’s Italian Kitchen is more successful than ever.
Since 2014, Southern California Restaurant Design Group has been at the forefront of many new restaurant builds as well as numerous remodels of Maria’s Italian Kitchen locations. The challenge brought to us was trying to coordinate a large Italian menu with a small space. We met with the head chef to understand the desired flow and needs of the kitchen in order to develop a plan based on priority items and flexibility. SCRDG’s understanding of what is required for health regulations, how the menu affects the flow and equipment needs of the kitchen, and experience in executing in a limited space made us a true partner for Maria’s.
Our unique equipment ideas and design plans to better serve ‘home cooked’ style eateries have resulted in over 20% increase in sales in their remodeled restaurants.
